Commemorating the 50th anniversary of Bird & Bull Press, this is a bound collection of prospectuses and leaves, many scarce and early. Thirty-six pages of brief running commentaries are included, as are facsimiles of relevant letters plus leaves from books which will be unknown to Bird & Bull subscribers. Forty-six inserts are bound-in and not removable, providing a permanent record of the progression and variety of works produced over a fifty-year period. As Mr Morris stated when this unique work was produced, the inserts are so varied and quantities so limited, that NO TWO COPIES ARE ALIKE. This unopened, immaculate volume is enclosed in a clamshell case.

The book and accompanying portfolio are housed in a cloth-covered clamshell box with leather spine label. Included in the inch-thick portfolio of specimens is a 16pp. small folio booklet with the complete woodcuts of "Three Lions and the Cross of Lorraine" (1992). An additional inner portfolio contains a generous collection of leaves from "Dard Hunter & Son" (1998). This inner portfolio has a printed sheet providing details of the items enclosed. The main portfolio also includes 8-, 12-, and 16-pp. specimen sections, large posters, prospectuses, and other ephemera. There are an additional twenty-four tip-ins or inserts bound into the book, including five 4-pp. inserts, two 6-pp. inserts, and one fold-out broadside on handmade Italian "Roma" paper.

No. 99 of 155 copies; As New in slipcase, with prospectus laid in; 77p., including eleven pages of black and white illustrations and two pages of color inserts; a 7 X 11" sample sheet of the original 1958 Bird & Bull handmade paper is tipped in along with twenty additional tip-ins, most of which are in color. An adjunct to the article "Better Late Than Never" is a pair of clay impressions with human figures and cuneiform inscriptions taken from ancient Babylonian cylinder seals. The seals date from 1900-1600 BC, and the two clay impressions, about 1 X 2" in size, are in a recess inside the front cover of the clamshell box. A color insert shows (for the first time in the recorded history of the private press) how the production run of these impressions was accomplished by the Bird & Bull engineering staff in charge of reproduction of ancient artifacts; also included with this copy is a laid-in Appendix to "A History of Die Cutting", without which no copy of this title is complete; book and clamshell bound by the Campbell-Logan Bindery in identical light to medium brown cloth.
